Overview

Redirects send visitors from one URL to another. They are useful when a page moves, when you want to force one version of a URL, or when you are cleaning up an old site structure.

Common Uses

  • Redirecting an old page to a new page
  • Forwarding a secondary domain
  • Sending visitors from a non secure URL to a secure version
  • Cleaning up duplicate page paths

How to Add a Redirect

  1. Log in to cPanel
  2. Open the Redirects tool
  3. Choose the type of redirect
  4. Enter the old path and the destination URL
  5. Save and test the redirect

Things to Watch

  • Do not create redirect loops
  • Be sure the destination page actually exists
  • Keep redirects simple and documented if you make several of them
