Overview
Cloudflare can sit in front of your website to help with performance, DNS management, and security. Many customers use Cloudflare while keeping their website hosted with Server Joe’s.
Basic Setup
- Add your domain to Cloudflare
- Review the imported DNS records carefully
- Point the domain nameservers to the nameservers Cloudflare gives you
- Make sure your website A record points to the correct hosting IP
- Confirm mail related records are present and accurate
Important Cloudflare Notes
- Mail related records should usually remain DNS only rather than proxied
- Cloudflare does not replace your actual hosting account
- You still manage files, databases, and email accounts through your hosting tools
When Cloudflare Is Useful
- You want easier DNS management
- You want additional performance or security tools
- You want a layer in front of your site while keeping your hosting account unchanged
